Have you been thinking about going deer hunting and want to take the next step? Would you like to learn how to field dress and process a deer? Are you interested in providing "local grass feed meat" for you and your family? Do you want to learn how to prepare a variety of savory venison meals? Then Rounton Farm's Hunting 101 class is the answer.
This one day course will take you step by step through the deer hunting process. It will cover a wide variety of topics including but not limited to:
- learning proper hunter safety
- getting properly fitted for a hunting rifle
- practicing your aim on the shooting range
- discussing the necessary gear needed
- putting up a variety of tree stands
- experiencing field dressing and processing a deer
- enjoying several tasty venison meals
This class is catered to your level or experience and you will be actively involved in the learning process. It is the ultimate in “eating locally” and simply a true and real experience in hunting safety, ethics, processing, and enjoying venison.

Class Fee: $300 adult (17yr and older) $150 youth (16yr and under)
Includes: Curriculum handouts, all meals and snacks, and use of all equipment and gear.
Class size: 20 max (10 minimum)
Class will be held rain or shine. Be prepared for outside activities.
*Shadow Hunting allows participant to accompany an experienced hunter in the field. See below for details.

Because of the limited class size, it is important to register early as classes fill quickly. Full payment is required at time of registration. If you are unable to attend the class you registered for, let us know up to two weeks in advance and your entire fee will be transferable to another class date. Within two weeks of the class half of your fee will be transferable to another class.
Tent Camping is available on Rounton Farm for an additional $30 per night. Toilet and running water on site.
Sunday Morning deer scouting from a tree stand is available from 6am-8am for an additional fee of $50.
Shadow Hunting is available for those desiring to watch the hunting process in action. Shadow Hunters will join a licensed and experienced hunter in a tree stand offering a unique and up close look at the hunting process. $50
